The U.S. version of NightWatch+ is an FDA-cleared, prescription-only medical device. It is authorized for use in children aged 4 to 16 years and is designed to detect and alert caregivers to nocturnal epileptic motor seizures that may be associated with an increased risk of injury, including SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).
Nocturnal seizures are seizures during sleep. Motor seizures are epileptic seizures involving muscles in any way, which can be sudden stiffness, jerking of the muscles, or leg pedalling movements. NightWatch+ detects the following seizure types:
- Tonic-Clonic (TC)
- Tonic (if clustered or prolonged >30 seconds)
- Hyperkinetic
- TC-like seizures
Plug and Play Peace of Mind
NightWatch+ detects seizures straight out of the box and does not require a subscription or a mobile phone connection to work. Optionally, it connects to an online data portal to keep track of recordings over time.
