Wereldwijd lijden miljoenen mensen aan epilepsie. Voor velen bieden medicijnen geen volledige controle over hun aanvallen. Zorgverleners ervaren daardoor aanzienlijke stress en uitdagingen, vooral bij het bieden van tijdige ondersteuning tijdens de nacht. De Nederlandse epilepsiecentra SEIN en Kempenhaeghe onderkenden dit en startten een baanbrekend onderzoek naar het 's nachts detecteren van epileptische aanvallen. In dit onderzoek ontwikkelden zij zich van het monitoren van bewegingspatronen naar een geavanceerde analyse van zowel hartslag als beweging.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

In 2011 werd het Tele-Epilepsie Consortium opgericht, waarin het UMC Utrecht, de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, SEIN, Kempenhaeghe, pati\u00ebntengroepen en EpilepsieNL verenigd zijn. Samen ontwikkelden ze een innovatief systeem om zorgverleners op afstand te waarschuwen voor klinisch urgente aanvallen, wat een eenvoudige maar effectieve oplossing biedt voor zowel professionele als thuissituaties.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Voortkomend uit jarenlange samenwerking werd LivAssured in 2013 opgericht om deze levensveranderende technologie op de markt te brengen. In de kern is het een uniek algoritme dat klinisch urgente aanvallen detecteert door hartslag en bewegingspatronen te analyseren. Sinds de lancering in 2018 is NightWatch wereldwijd uitgegroeid tot een toonaangevende oplossing voor duizenden gebruikers. Het wordt erkend als h\u00e9t apparaat voor het detecteren van nachtelijke aanvallen.
